Gorbachev differs
Former President Mikhail Gorbachev said V-Day should give no pretext for extolling Stalin. ‘‘Stalin’s name will be mentioned more than once during celebrations …But one shouldn’t go so far as to say that we owe the victory to Stalin..,’’ he said on Sunday.
Baltic apology
Estonian and Lithuanian Presidents are boycotting the ceremonies, demanding an apology for illegal occupation of Baltic republics at the end of WW-II. ‘‘Russia will not make any apologies,” Defence Minister Ivanov said.
