NASHIK, Oct 22: The two-day token strike by employees of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation has paralysed life in the district from Tuesday.
The strike call has been given by the ST Kamgar Sanghatana and the INTUC affiliated Rashtriya ST Kamgar Congress, to demand bonus, wage revision and better service conditions.
Buses remained off the roads in the district and services in the city operated by the ST came to a standstill. None of the 390 buses of the city pool were operated throwing life out of gear in the city. About 110 buses of the Panchavati depot too, remained off the roads. The strike caused hardship to urban as well as rural passengers, with autorickshaw drivers and unauthorised private jeep operators earning a quick buck by hiking their fares.
