
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree to set up a single state-owned holding company Atomenergoprom Nuclear Power Industry Complex to control the civilian nuclear energy industry in the country.
Atomenergoprom is expected to become part of a corporation which would control both civilian and military nuclear energy in Russia. Deputy Head of the Federal Atomic Energy Agency Vladimir Travin is tipped to be Atomenergoprom director.
Russian media reported quoting sources that the new holding company would be directly accountable to the president.
