
MUMBAI, JAN 22: A splendid century by opener Soham Dalvi and his two century partnerships, highlighted Shardashram’s (English) 195-run victory over St Mary’s in the quarter-final of the MSSA-Colgate Inter-School Harris Shield cricket tournament (75 overs) at the Azad maidan, today.
Dalvi first added 112 runs with Shirish Mandrekar (68, 9×4, 71 balls) for the first wicket. He then put on 154 runs for the second wicket with Sanket Mirgal (70, 3×4, 83 balls) to help his side to post 346-7 in 75 overs.
Dalvi’s innings of 142 was studded with seven hits to the ropes and came in 165 balls.
In reply, St Mary’s were bowled out for 151 with Mayank Jhunjhunwala being the top scorer with 45. Spinners Amit Patkar and Kaushal Dongre captured three wickets each.
Shardashram will now meet holders IES V N Sule Guruji in the semi-final, next week.
In the Giles Shield match at the MSSA Schools Sports Centre, C D Barfiwala defeated Mount Mary’s by nine wickets in the five-team round-robin league for the ManoramabaiApte Trophy.
Mount Mary’s, who batted first, were bundled out for 24 in just 17.4 overs. Kalpita Dighe returned remarkable figures of 4-0-1-3, while Akshata Parab finished with 8-4-5-3.
Barfiwala then hit up the required runs for victory in just 4.3 overs.

Podar, NM advance
Former champions, Podar defeated Balasaheb Khardekar by 218 runs in the Senior collegiate Cricket tournament. Podar had scored 345 and had Balasaheb at 52 for two overnight. Today they bowled out their opponents for 128.
In another match, Narsee Monjee scored an even bigger victory, defeating JSM Alibaug by 310 runs.
