The Gita revisited
A six-day course on the Bhagwat Gita will be conducted at the Shri Shri Radhakunj Bihari temple from May 23. This aims to present the intricate philosophy of the Gita in a simple manner thus enabling people to implement the teachings in everyday life. Each session will comprise of lectures, slide shows and a comprehensive question-answer session. Persons interested in joining the course can contact the coordinator Anil Handa at 634896.

Shooting straight
Hemant Jadhav of Ahmednagar hit bull8217;s-eye as he top scored in the recently-concluded National Shooting championships held at New Delhi. Jadhav won the gold medal as a part of the Maharashtra team in the 50-metere Free Pistol .22 calibre Civilian category. He also bagged the bronze medal in the individual category in the same event. Jadhav is presently the shooting coordinator with the directorate of Sports in Maharashtra and also coaches at the Armoured Corps Centre at Ahmednagar.

YWCA8217;s musical ministry
The Young Women8217;s Christian Association YWCA played host to the group Revelations8217; as they performed a few religious songs followed by a Hawaiian group representing the YWAM. Choreography shows depicting the crucifixion of Christ were the highlights of the evening. This was organised on May 8 along with the Inter collegiate Prayer Fellowship ICPF. Adeline Michael, president of YWCA of Poona, welcomed the audience and gave a brief talk on the projects and programmes, the mainframe and their administration. This was followed by a choreography by the ICPF unit of Bhartiya Vidypeeth.

Grooming them young
Catching and teaching them young seems to be the mantra of almost all workshop organisers these days. Three workshops 8211; Knowing Yourself8217;, Smarter Kids8217; and The Winners8217; are being organised by CARE at Sterling Centre, M G Road on May 14 and 15. These will focus on children starting from the age seven, with different age groups for different workshops. The topics will range from etiquettes, self-esteem, confidence building, positive thinking, conversation skills, time management, memory and study skills, interpretational skills, creative thinking, dynamic relaxation and leadership skills. Annual novena
Come May 15 and the annual novena in honour of Mary Help of Christians will commence at the Don Bosco Youth Centre on Koregaon road. The daily service with sermon has been scheduled for 6 pm. The feast will be celebrated on May 24.

Blending of arts
TO celebrate the 38th anniversary of Ajanta Courier, a musical programme was held at Somwar Peth recently. An impressive kathak recital by Archana Hardikar was the high point of the evening. Vocalist Shrikant Deshpande, grandson of the renowned Sawai Gandharva, rendered the raag Malkaun8217;. All in all it was a pot-pourri of cultural events that blended the talents of the established artists with city8217;s young upcoming artists.
