South African chief cricket selector Omar Henry today said that captain Graeme Smith would learn from his mistake after being banned from the fifth and decisive one-day international against Pakistan.

Smith was banned for a one-day international and fined 50 per cent of his match fee for using offensive language against Pakistan batsman Yousuf Youhana during the second one-day international at Lahore last week.

8220;It is about learning. No one walks into international cricket and becomes an icon straightaway. Smith made a mistake and he would learn from it,8221; henry told reporters.

The 22-year-old smith was made South African captain after Shaun Pollock failed to guide the team beyond the first round in the World Cup earlier this year.
