PUNE, Aug 16: Six new meet records were created on the penultimate day of the State-level Swimming Championship for Pimpri-Chinchwad Muncipal Corporation pcmc Mayors Trophy at Annasaheb Magar Swimming Pool here today.Avinash Kripalani of Greater Mumbai created a record in 100 metres back stroke and 200 metres individual medley while Harish Annaldas of Solapur broke the previous record in one metre spring board diving.

Greater Mumbai men: 4215;100 medlay relay, Amar Muralidharan of Pune 1500 mts free style, Riyad Palia of Greater Mumbai 400 IM were others who created records.

In the 200 IM, Kripalani clocked 2.30.30 minutes breaking the previous record of Riyad Palia 2.31.90 mins in 1997. In the 100 mts backstroke, Kripalani returned with 1.10.88 mins breaking the previous record of Anirudh Dutt 1.11.79 mins in 1997.

Yesterday, Kripalini and Muralidharan stole the limelight by creating two new meet records in boys under-13 and under-15 sections.

Kripalani8217;s records came in 100 1.00.69 and200 2.12.20 metres free style. The previous records in 100 was in the name of Anirudha Dutt 1.01.91 mins, in 1994 and 200 in the name of Jay Shah 2.15.27, in 1997.

Amar stole the limelight in his group creating new records in 400 metres free style and 200 metres free style event.

In 400 metres, he clocked 4.36.04 minutes shattering the previous record which stood in the name of Shane Pedder 4.39.87 mins in 1993. In the 200 freestyle, Amar took 2.10.15 mins to shatter the previous record, which was in the name of Reza Shirazi of Greater Mumbai 2.12.70 mins in 1984.

Sindoor Thakkar Greater Mumbai, Sandeep Varma Mumbai Suburbs, Zeba Wadia Institute of Technology, Kriplani, Kaustaubh Radkaar Pune and Shane Pedder Greater Mumbai all made new meet records in their respective age groups.
