There is probably no personal tragedy greater than getting one8217;s hair cut only to discover that it looks disastrous. To help you get the perfect look, we asked stylists which styles would suit the more common face types. Here8217;s what they say to help you get a cut that suits your face type.
Often, it is the round face that poses the most problems for hair stylists. Says Blossom Kochhar, Director, Pivot Point: 8220;It is the most complicated of all face cut and is very difficult to camouflage.8221;
But then, every problem has a solution. If you have a round face, you can get a blunt with horizontal bangs to add height to the face. In case you want to keep a fringe, it should always be horizontal rather than vertical. The hair should be left in such a way that it hugs the sides of your face. All this makes the face look longer and less round.
Leena of the Club Olympus, Hyatt Regency, offers another solution for people with round faces: 8220;They should leave their hair long or cut it in layers.8221;A small face withhigh cheekbones merits a blunt, whereas one with high forehead calls for a fringe. Leena further suggests that those with a broad face should keep their hair hanging below your shoulders in a tapering fashion. A layered look should further do the trick to make your face appear narrower.
For a longish face, it would be best to sport a short blunt or a wedge cut, which would be a good style for summer. A razor cut, which means keeping the hair long from the back and getting it cut in a layered fashion from the sides, also suits people with long faces. Leena maintains that a short hair cut looks terrific on most people above 40, whereas on young people, it is steps that look captivating.
For limp and very fine hair, Leena says a strict no to steps, suggesting a U-shaped cut instead. Every hair dresser8217;s dream is an oval face. Says the Capital8217;s well-known stylists, Jawed Habib: 8220;An oval face is the perfect face cut. Our main aim is make every face look like that. For people who have a round face, we cutlots of hair from the sides. So, that their face looks longer.8221;
Kochhar also appears to think on the same lines: 8220;An oval face is the ideal shape. You can do just about anything with it. Long hair, braids, bangs, everything looks great with this face cut.8221;
A square shape face is perhaps not too common, and is a cause of much discomfort as not all styles suit it. Suggests Kochhar: 8220;With this kind of a face, we try to hide the angular jaw. So, what you should do is, take your hair and pin it up up on side and leave the other side hanging down. This gives an asymmetrical look which hides the squareness of the face.8221;
If you have a long face and have been wondering what on earth you could do with it, you could begin by sporting a fringe. Says Blossom Kochhar: 8220;A fringe suits a long and broad face with a pointed chin, but the fringe should start from somewhere in the centre of your head.8221;
It should be a long fringe which should fall deeper than most fringes. The hair should be cut in layers so thatit shapes your face and at the same time it should be away from it. Back comb your hair in such away that it adds height from the sides. The hair should fall more on side than the other. All this makes your face appear not so long as it is.
A perfect shape, it would appear, is not god but a hair-stylist given!
