
PONDICHERRY, FEB 6: Christians took out a silent procession through the main thoroughfares of Pondicherry today, to condemn the recent attacks on Christians in Gujarat and Orissa.
Volunteers of several political parties, including the Tamil Maanila Congress TMC, took part in the procession.
The processionists carried placards denouncing the burning of Australian missionary Graham Stewart Staines and his two sons in Orissa. A public meeting will also be held this evening.
Meanwhile, the Pradesh Congress Committee has condemned the rape of a nun in Mayurbhanj district of Orissa two days ago.
PCC I president P Shanmugham told newsmen that the number of attack on minorities, especially christians, had increased under the BJP-led government. The Centre had failed to take stern action against the Sangh Parivar, he said.
