GANGTOK, December 22: The Sikkim Government has accepted with slight modifications8217; the third Pay Commission report providing maximum benefits to grade 8220;C8221; and grade 8220;D8221; employees in the state.

The minimum basic pay of a grade 8220;D8221; employee in Sikkim as per the new structure would be Rs 2,850 as against the existing scale of Rs 800. 8220;This is Rs 410 more than that of the equivalent grade in case of Central Government employees8221;, Chamling told newsmen yesterday.

The revised pay scale, to be effective from January one, 1996, would cost the state exchequer with additional burden of Rs. 52.30 crore annually, Chamling said.
