Incidentally, Anil, like Sunil Shetty, has got a new lease viz his career. Both heroes are on a signing spree. Every time I glance through the trade papers, I seetheir names linked with fresh banners and new films. In this case Samson did not need his locks.

D-day

If Anu Kuttor was present at this wedding, no one would blame her for having her fair share of regrets. She walked out on Chunky Pandey after a long relationship and there were rumours that she was seeing a Chink in Singapore. This model-turned-veejay who seems to have disappeared may have broken Chunky8217;s heart but now he has more than recovered.

Bhavana, for one, is certainly better looking than his previous girl friend. For another, the couple seem madly in love. For the wedding, held last weekend, Chunky personally chose her clothes and jewellery. He even made all the phone calls inviting everyone and then sent out invitation cards.

The functions were a classy affair and there was no shortage of food and drink. But Chunky8217;s close friend Gulshan Grover 8212; the two used to pretend to hate all newly weds 8212; was missing for most part of this long wedding. He only turned up at the reception 8212; apparently a tight shooting schedule kept him away. On the other hand, Rekha attended the wedding but her usual flamboyant style was missing. She was unusually low-key and was wearing subdued jewellery and her hair was minus its usual gajra. Shah Rukh must have flown down specially from Delhi as that8217;s where his shooting schedule had taken him. And Anil Kapoor could not keep the smile off his face as he had just won the Screen-Videocon Award for Best Actor, just before he came for the reception.

Leading lady

Ever since Inder Kumar finalised the heroes of his next film 8212; Aamir Khan and Anil Kapoor 8212; the industry has been speculating about the leading ladies. Here8217;s what the buzz is: Many think Kumar will do the obvious and sign Madhuri since they have worked together time and again. But an industry speculator thinks otherwise. He thinks that Madhuri is a bad choice because by the time the film is complete, Bollywood would be heading into the next Century. Who then would want to see a Madhuri flick? The same logic applies to Juhi as well. If he signs Mads or Juhi it would be like making The Lost World 8212; a film about extinct species since the heroines may just be married in a year or two. Kajol is also ruled out because she gave the director enough grief during the making of Ishq. So, the punters are backing: Manisha, Karisma and Urmila 8212; not necessarily in the order.

Hair raising

Did you all know that Bobby has a hair-raising problem. That is, his hair refuses to lift. Poor Chotta Deol has such limp and straggly hair that he looks on the verge of balding. Like Sanjay Dutt, he too, is holding on to the length of his hair just in case it refuses to grow so long ever again. May be he should condition it more often, his hair looks really dull and dry. Now, before I start to sound like a shampoo ad, let8217;s talk about Bobby and his career. Junior Deol had walked out of Mujhe Kuch Kehana Hai after shooting a part of the film with Urmila Matondkar. Apparently, he wasn8217;t too happy with the script and the director from down South, Thumpy. However, the project is being revived with another director. Though the name has not been finalised, in all probability, the replacement director is going to be Priyadarshan.

Stand off

You mess with him once and he will never work with you again. At least that8217;s the message producer Suresh Grover seems to be getting from muscle man Sunil Shetty. Ever since Grover sold parts of his film Dhaal to a liquor company, without informing his hero, Sunil Shetty is said to be furious. He, unwittingly, found himself a part of a whisky ad 8212; something Shetty would never be a part of. Now the market buzz is that Grover8217;s project Juaa starring Jackie Shroff and Sunil has been shelved. Apparently the action hero-turned-serious star is not too keen to work with a producer he does not trust. Well, one cannot really blame Sunil for his stand.

Mad Mamta

Every time Mamta Kulkarni opens her mouth, she makes a new enemy. In other words, this girl spares no one in the interviews she gives. The situation is so bad now that many Bollywoodwallahs are ready to dig their daggers into her. These days the target of Mamta8217;s outrageous comments is Karisma Kapoor. Or, so it seems from her latest interviews. Earlier, Manisha Koirala used to be her pet peeve. Now, Mamta is accusing Karisma for manipulating things of the sets of Dil To Pagal Hai to come out looking better than Madhuri Dixit.

Wait a minute! When did Mamta become Mads spokesperson? The truth is simple. Karisma looks better because she is looking great these days and Madhuri is looking the way she does because she is well past her prime.

Villain8217;s date

While we are on Mamta, the facts are that she isn8217;t bagging too many big banners. But if Mamta is unlucky for Mamta, she is definitely lucky for her boyfriend 8212; the action director, Tinu Varma. Incidentally, the only time Mamta is silent is when she is asked about her affair with Varma. Then she goesto town denying an involvement. Anyway, the director is in the news again but this time for different reasons. He is moving in front of the camera as a villain.

Varma is replacing Aditya Pancholi in a film being directed by Dharmesh Darshan. If Aditya is insulted that he is being replaced by Varma 8212; after all, in the looks department there is no comparison 8212; then he should be really upset about what won the day. Apparently, Darshan saw Varma bare-chested and decided that he would make a better villain than Aditya. Returning to Mamta, the question is: Is she thrilled about her boyfriend8217;s new avataar or is she insecure like most filmi wives?
