The race between states for setting up a proposed Indian National Defence University (INDU) is heating up with the Union Cabinet to take a decision on the matter soon. While Punjab is keen and has earmarked two sites in Hoshiarpur and Bathinda for the proposed university, Haryana seems to have taken a lead in the matter by sending a formal letter to the Defence Ministry offering 200 acres at Binola village along the NH 8. Pushing Haryana’s case within the ministry is Rao Inderjit Singh, the Minister of State for Defence, who not only belongs to Haryana but also represents the constituency in which Binola falls.
