Nitya Wakhlu to lead State
Nitya Wakhlu will spearhead Maharashtra8217;s challenge at the forthcoming 31st Junior Nationals to be held in Mumbai from September 22. The 16-member team was announced today by Women8217;s Hockey Association of Maharashtra WHAM organising secretary SR Bhat.

Of the 16-girls, eight are from the Krida Prabhodini, Balewadi, seven from Pune and one from Phaltan. About 52 girls had participated in the selection trials at PCMC Poligras Stadium, Nehru Nagar on September 5-6.

The Team: Nitya Wakhlu Capt., Aloka Gune Vice Capt., Saili Patil, Swati Patil, Smita Kariwadekar, Supriya Chauhan, Gayatri Gunjal, Sonal Navlakha, Bhagyashree Nimbalkar, Neha Shah, Aishwarya Bagwe, Vijaya Mogal, Anita Shinde, Malti Jadhav, Anita Sur, Suvarna Shivsagar.

Joshi elected
Dr. Pravin Joshi has been elected president of the Sports Medicine Association, Pune in the election held on Sunday.

Following are the new office bearers: Dr Pravin Joshi President, Dr Dipak Phalgune, Prof. Subhash Bhange Vice-President, Dr Raghunandan Dixit Secretary, Dr Rajesh Pardeshi Treasurer, Dr Narayan Karne, Dr Rajendra Ballal Jt. Secretary. Hoganas win HOGANAS India Ltd. scored a major upset when they shocked defending champions SKF Bearings India Ltd. by two-wickets in the inaugral league fixture of the XVI Inter-Swedish Group of Companies cricket tourney at the Jail ground Yerwada here today.

SKF taking strike first managed 75 runs in their allotted 25 overs, while Hoganas in reply managed to overcome the target losing eight wickets with one over to spare. Earlier VK Sud, managing director Hoganas inaugrated the meet.
