
VADODARA, Dec 17: There was a breakthrough in the Shinor custody assault case today when the Vadodara district police said they had identified the driver of the vehicle that took Manjulaben Vasava and three others, including the mute Mahesh, to Dabhoi on November 24.
In what could be clinching evidence hat Manjulaben was framed, police sources said the youth had been with the driver, Ramesh alias Lala Goverdhanbhai, for one week, the time he was supposed to have been abducted by Manjulaben.
The driver is a resident of Gunwanti Nagar, Memnagar, in Ahmedabad. The vehicle used by Ramesh to transport the four to Dabhoi was recovered from a garage owner in Rajpipla recently. Ramesh, reportedly a habitual vehicle lifter, used to work till recently as a driver with Mukundrao Manishankar Bhatt, a resident of Ahmedabad.
On November 22, Ramesh took the vehicle out on the pretext of filling the fuel tank, but did not return. His employer then lodge the processed raw material contained some impurities. 8220;How much is still to be figured out8221;, he said. Deputy commissioner of police Mohan Jha also said that the police investigation was still underway, since they were waiting for a technical report from Parmar. 8220;We will certainly take stern action against the guilty once the responsibility for the mishap is fixed8221;, he promised.
Promises. The survivors8217; families and the injured may just have to get used to living with them.
