Shetye elected KMC panel chief

KOLHAPUR, Dec 4: Corporator Bhupal Mahipati Shetye was today elected as the chairman of the standing committee of Kolhapur Municipal Corporation KMC.

Shetye belonging to Tararanee Aghadi in KMC, polled nine votes, while rival Rajarshi Shahu Aghadi candidate Haridas Sonawane got seven votes in a straight contest.

Tararanee Aghadi received a jolt in recently concluded Kolhapur mayoral election when its candidate lost the election. However, they succeeded in retaining the chairmanship during this election.
