
CHANDIGARH, April 7: City schools have re-opened after the post-exam break and the new academic year has begun.
Moving up to a higher class is an exciting moment in a student8217;s life. In the words of Class III student Akriti: quot;A new session is all about new uniform, books and stationery. Look! I8217;ve got this trendy pencil box and the best pilot pens!quot; While primary classes commenced in most private schools on Monday, kindergarten classes are yet to start in most of these schools and government schools will open on April 10.
Class I to X pupils of St John8217;s School trooped into their classrooms on April 6; the pupils in lower kindergarten experience their first day of school on April 8.
All classes, including kindergarten, have started at St Kabir8217;s and St Stephen8217;s. While KG to Class X began on April 5, pre-nursery and nursery started on April 7 and April 6 respectively.Class I to Plus One at St Stephen8217;s School commenced from April 6. quot;No new admissions have been made to Plus One,quot; said school secretary.
quot;I won8217;t get time for sports. It will be only school and homework,quot; says Vivek, a Class VIII student at Hansraj Public School. Vivek is not very excited about new session. The new session began at Hansraj Public School, Panchkula, on March 29, with Classes VIII, IX and X starting afresh. While Classes III to VII began on April 2, KG kids started today. Nursery class will begin from April 15.
According to Vice-Principal Monika Madan, quot;We spaced the classes to give them time to settle down. To give senior classes extra time and owing to a number of holidays in April, the senior most classes started in March.quot;
Vivek High School began its new session on April 5. According to school administrator, Vivek High School will declare the result of Plus One admission test on April 12 which is to be held tomorrow. The clasess will start from April 15.
Sacred Heart has made provisional admissions to Plus One on the basis of pre-board results. The school re-opened yesterday for all classes, except UKG and Class I, which start tomorrow. LKG in both Carmel Convent and Sacred Heart is to start from April 12.
While the students have entered into new session at Shiwalik Public School, Sector 41, the new entrants to various classes will join on April 12.
