GANDHINAGAR, Aug 18: Former chief election commissioner T N Seshan filed his nomination papers as Congress candidate for elections to the Lok Sabha seat here on Wednesday.

A great believer in ritual and superstitions, Seshan, with tilak on his forehead, filed papers at the auspicious muhurt of 11.57 am sharp. To avoid last-minute rejection on technical grounds, he filed four sets of papers while former AUDA chairman Natwarlal Patel filed papers as dummy candidate.

Standing atop a tractor trolly and surrounded by local Congress workers, Seshan arrived at the collectorate office along with a large procession of party workers amid a earsplitting din of drumbeats and sloganeering. Senior party leaders arrived in a bevy of cars which formed larger part of the caravan besides police vehicles. The procession was as impressive, if not more than that of BJP8217;s L K Advani.
