Security beefed up in Delhi

Security was beefed up in the capital after a general alert was sounded following the twin blasts in Hyderabad last night, killing over 40 people.

Security was beefed up in the capital after a general alert was sounded following the twin blasts in Hyderabad last night, killing over 40 people.

8220;There is no specific threat to the capital. Everything is under control and there is no cause to worry,8221; a senior Delhi Police official said.

Police personnel were asked to be 8220;more vigilant8221; and carry out 8220;vigorous searches8221; at crowded places, the official said.

More personnel were deployed at crowded places like markets, popular hangouts and shopping malls and frisking and searches were also conducted.

Security was also beefed up at railway and metro stations and inter-state bus terminals.

8220;We are not leaving any stone unturned, though, there is no specific information that militants are trying to carry out any such attacks in the capital,8221; the official added.
