Chennai, June 20: Starting from second position on the grid, Narain Karthikeyan drove brilliantly to win the seventh round of the Autosport British Formula 3 championship race at Brands Hatch today. It was his second success at the championship, having won the fourth round at the same venue in April.
The Coimbatore-based Narain, supported by Kingfisher, Mobil 1, Tata and JK Tyre, overtook Brazilian Luciano Burti who was in pole position, by taking an outside line for the first corner, a right-hander, and never looked back, according to information reaching here.
A major crash at the back of the field on Lap 3 saw the next four laps run behind a Safety Car, and thereafter, Narain again pulled away to win.
Narain8217;s success on Sunday provided a double for Carlin Motorsport8217;s boss Martin Stone and Trevor Carlin, as team-mate Mike Bentwood, who finished 10th overall, was first in the National class.
