Sarpanch arrested

CHANDIGARH, May 5: The city police have arrested Hallomajra sarpanch Umesh Prasad Gupta for allegedly assaulting employees of the Electricity Department on Sunday. Jagmohan, another resident of Hallomajra, was also held for assaulting them.

Yesterday, the employees had held a protest demanding Gupta8217;s arrest. They alleged that on getting a complaint, their staff members had gone to the village. On inspection of the same, they found that it was a major fault that could only be rectified the next day. This was all the instigation Gupta and Jagmohan had to assault them, the electricity employees added.
