Sound of music
The Poona Club was filled with Usha Uthup8217;s music on Saturday. So what if the music was pre-recorded. She sang and sounded just as livewire as she always has.

She mesmerised the audience with her charm and warmth. With Usha, nothing has changed. She is perhaps the only singer who have sung in all the recognised Indian languages along with many foreign languages to her credit. She started with her popular number I believe in Music and went on to sing My heart will go on and on. She even belted out a gutsy Un Dos Tres8230; Maria. Her wit completely bowled over the audience. Her 8220;Imagine, Ricky Martin standing in front of you clad in a saree and singing,8221; made the audience laugh. Little ones got on to the stage and danced away till the end of the show. She played the pipe piper by leading them from the stage.

Salsa at TDS
Ten Downing Street TDS is coming up with another unusual nite for you on Wednesday called Silk and Salsa8217;. Experience is a heady mix of swinging Latino Latin American dance music with a South American feel. Silk and Salsa is one of the many music tours promoted by Benson and Hedges. The DJ will be Rohann from Mumbai Pssst8230; he is the God of Latino Fever. So, hear him dish out some of the best Latino house music. Master chef8217;s tipsThat master chef, Sanjeev Kapoor, of Khana Khazana fame, wore his famous smile and casual attire at the informal meet organised by Crossword Book Store on Sunday. He spoke of creativity in the kitchen and was fielded queries by the audience, especially the ladies.

The interactive session was punctuated with cooking tips galore, something which Kapoor is never short of. Kapoor has a number of books to his credit and he let on that he is working on another, Healthy and Tasty Recipes. Apparently Kapoor has a devout following among the Maharashtrians, which explains the book in Marathi he has written, Bhartiya Pakakritincha Khazana.

Indian pride 8220;We do not shy away from displaying our Indian identity. In fact, we preach it and practise it in our work. It has worked well for us,8221; says the Hasmukh P Rama, Chairman of American Hotel and Motel Association AH amp; MA. He was in Pune, to address the hospitality educators and students at the Maharashtra Institute of Hotel Management. He has been in the business for over two decades. All this from a man who went to the US in 1969 with just two dollars in his pocket. Today, he is invited all over the world as a distinguished speaker. Rama derives his strength from his family and his Indianness. He has established the Rama Scholarship for the American Dream for Indians and minority students in the US eager to study in the hospitality line but without the means. On a two-day trip to Pune, Rama will meet leading hoteliers and citizens.
