Role models!
Aditya Panscholi and Sudesh Berry were politeness personified at the launch of the Maple range of shirts and trousers at Blue Diamond on April 25.
Sudesh Berry, who has a penchant for getting into fisticuffs with fellow actors was his smiling best, probably because he had modelled for the ad campaign. The chief guest Aditya Panscholi, who played villain in Yes Boss with finesse, also displayed the charming side of his personality. Vineet Jain, proprietor of Maple, has reason to be satisfied. The two stars out-dazzled each other in green coat (Berry) and yellow check shirt (Panscholi).
Up from Down Under
Savage Garden, the pop group from Down Under may have crooned `I want you’ at their live concert at the SNDT grounds in Mumbai this Saturday but it was clear that their fans in Pune city also wanted them. Creating a flutter among city fans who made a bee-line to Black Cadillac on Thursday night to collect passes after fulfilling some mandatory rules, like buying a drink or two. The Australian duo consisting of singer Darren Hayes and instrumentalist Daniel Jones have already shot to fame with their numbers `I want you’ and `Truly, madly, deeply’. DNA Network was responsible for bringing them to Mumbai. The lucky ones who made it to Mumbai must have had a great time. Those who couldn’t, never mind, look out for their show on the numerous music channels and keep your fingers crossed for next time.
The Rags to Ramp story
A finalist at the Gladrags Manhunt ‘ 98, 22-year old Pune model Rohit Chopra has already acquired the savvy to speak – of the contest, his future plans, his passion for thrills, spills, the limelight and the fairer sex. These days he keeps himself busy with music videos, press and television advertisements. What did the Gladrags Manhunt symbolise for him? “A stepping stone. It also gave me the experience of meeting a delightful person like Maureen Wadia, being trained by Kelly Dorjee, facing an audience and generally having a ball, ” he lets on. All fun and all play, eh? His most memorable moment at the contest was the introduction, where he had to speak well, look his best, make a lasting impression. “It was my 30 seconds of fame – I could make it or break it,” he narrates. Modelling to the young Chopra means a hobby, a way of upgrading his personality. But does he have it in him to make it? “I think I do and soon people will recognise my worth.” That’s some confidence for a guy who spends happy hourslistening to music, dancing and spending time with his girlfriend. Or driving his prize possession, his black Honda CBR 400 RR or bungee-jumping.
The wheel of fortune
Pune’s reputed park, Sarasbaug, is going all out to lure the fun-loving crowds from their homes. The fun-fair, which opened on April 26, has games galore – slam bomb, dragon train, twister wheel, giant wheel, merry-go-round, frog ride and many more. The main attractions are the water park and the musical fountain which find great favour with tiny-tots.
Besides this, 60 to 70 stalls having fun games and food are sidelights for a nice evening out. As a result Sarasbaug is raking in the moolah. Those who like to revel in the mela atmosphere, may please visit the park before the end of May, when the fun fair bids adieu!
