The return of the Titanic
The Thums up Titanic Bash at Ambrosia on Saturday night only picked up speed and volume close to midnight. and sailed well up to the wee hours of the morning. The ship, a stretch of aluminium and cork ply, knocked hollow, had a delicate steering wheel put up among the blaring speakers and the deck8217; that reminded us more of a gladiator enclosure, unspoke the hype the organisers had drummed up over the week. Even the classic8217; sunset backdrop appeared to have got obscured in its own gloom. Not too many ventured to try their sea legs on the dance floor initially. However, as the evening voyaged into the night, and the good choice of dance music got to the crowd, more and more shunned their First Class privacy to shake a leg to the modern day pipers8217; DJ Vivek Sood and Prashant Lamba music. It was not the apprehension of another iceberg encounter but a different frenzy that took hold of the crowds and propelled them well beyond midnight. Hors d8217;oeuvres and sirloin beef were substituted byPav Bhaji and Paneer Tikka being served aboard. This version of the Titanic would go down in history as one that happily stayed afloat. With all the survivors making merry till kingdom come.

Jazzy fitness
Health freaks, here8217;s a way to hip hop8217; your way to fitness. The A-Jazz group comes to Pune and will teach jazz, hip hop and rock n8217; roll to people who like to shake a shapely leg in style. Conducted by a young group students still completing their post-graduation Kamlesh, Sadik and Farid who trained under Dilip D8217;Silva in Mumbai, the young troupe claims it has already choreographed dance sequences in shows for hot-shot pop singers, Sharon Prabhakar, Suneeta Rao, Shaan and Sagarika and Mehnaz. 8220;We have also assisted Santosh Shetty in the Screen awards,8221; they chirp. And they are gearing up for shows in Surat and Pune next month. Meanwhile classes will be on full swing at 62, Koregaon Park as the dance trio trips a neat tango or two.

Ode to the swan
Don8217;t think that the top-to-toe manicured look is easy to come by. A sophisticated appearance, correct social manners, communication skills, deportment and dance 8211; these are just some of the things which go into making a well-groomed, confident personality. And this requires some overhauling, believe you us. Telling you how to get it all together is Hoofrish Patel, who starts an exclusive grooming course8217;, a franchisee of the Orchid, the finishing school in Mumbai, to be conducted at the Holiday Inn from May 4 to 27. 8220;The course teaches etiquette and entertainment, home-decor, foods and wines, how to interact with people, in fact, it grooms the entire personality, 8221; says Hoofrish Patel, who will co-ordinate the course from 2/24, Guruprasad Society, Bund Garden Road. She has studied social welfare at Tata Institute of Social Sciences and has experience in conducting etiquette workshops for the corporate sector. She has also learnt and subsequently taught at the Orchid. The course has recruited Eva MarieCherukuru, Arnawaz Damania and Somya to initiate the students into the intricacies of being a brimming-with-confidence and suave personality. And though the price may seem steep at Rs 4900, remember that across the Ghats Mumbai the rate is almost double!

Lost for words?
Words were all they had and they made the most of it. The two-day scrabble competition organised jointly by the Zygo scrabble club, Secunderabad and the Poona Club saw enthusiastic wordsmiths poring over the scrabble board and groping for words. Held over the weekend, participants included eager scrabble buffs from Hyderabad and Mumbai. And guess who else was there at the Poona Club thinking up a few quick words ? 8211; Bijoy Dil mera bole hello how8217;re you ?8217;Anand, model and actor seen in Yash8217; and the serial Kurukshetra8217;. At lunch time participants found there was more on the competition list. They were gobbling dosas as fast as they could in the masala dosa eating competition. Better than eating their words, huh ?
