Febraury 28: In an exciting and challenging finish, Ritesh Shah of Just Balls pool parlour won the first Coca-Cola Pool Takkar Challenge tournament held at Fun City, Haria Centre, Andheri (E).Ritesh won the best of 11-frame final by defeating Anil Upadhyaya of Pool Mania 6-0.

Ritesh won exciting prizes that included a Machismo Bullet motorcycle for Coca-Cola India and a return ticket to HongKong from Haria Travels. In addition, Ritesh and the other semi-finalists also won mobile phones with prepaid cards from BPL Mobile, free stay at Biji’s Hill Retreat (Lonavala) and gift vouchers from Haute Cotton.

Michael Ferreira, Padmabhushan laureate and former three-time World Amateur billiards champion, was the Chief Guest and judge of the final.

Shaun nets brace

A brace by Shaun D’Souza enabled New India Assurance down Companeroes 2-0 in the Gulf Oil WIFA First Division football league at the Cooperage ground, today.

Earlier in the New India Assurance league, Fatima Boys trounced Madanpura 4-0.Norman D’Souza, Dinesh D’Silva, Peter Pereira and Alfred Saldanha scored.

Marinagar prevail

A lone goal by C Mascarenhas turned out to be the match-winner for Marinagar against Catholic Gymkhana in the BHA First Division hockey league, sponsored by Punjab National Bank, at the Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate, today.In the Second Division, a hat-trick by Hardeep Singh Saini was the highlight of Khalsa XI’s 3-0 victory over MLWB, Goregaon.

In Pool B of the third Division, Bombay Republicans were held 3-3 by Vasai Eskimos B. William Rodrigues (2) and John D’Souza netted for winners and D Baid (2) and Mahesh Lokhande accounted for Eskimos. In the Fourth Division, Golden 20 beat MLWB Naigaum 3-1. Jayesh Chaves, CA Carneiro and Carlton D’Souza scored for the winners. AtulNardekar reduced the margin.
