CHANDIGARH, June 10: They have all scored an aggregate of 90 per cent or more and are among the toppers in the City. While many of them, who expected such high percentages, are satisfied with their result, few others feel that they could have done better and scored even higher marks.

Carmel Convent which can boast of 100 per cent result in the commerce stream has a topper in Amin Pahwa, who has secured 91 per cent in the commerce group. The overall percentage of the school at 98.7 per cent, is perhaps the highest among the UT schools. Though delighted with her result, she feels that there is always room for improvement. quot;Hard work and support from family and teachers played an important part in my success.quot;

Meenu Chopra of DAV Model school, Sector 15 who has secured 92.4 per cent 462/500 in the medical stream is the school topper. Expressing satisfaction with her board result, she said, quot;Believe in yourself and do your best.quot; Aspiring to be a doctor, she says the stiff competition requires hardest possible work for its the survival of the fittest. Khushboo of the same school has secured 90 per cent 450/500 in the medical stream, she is happy with her performance but aspires to do even better in future. quot;A healthy competition among class mates, guidance and support from parents and teachers are responsible for my performance,quot; she added. The other students of the school who have secured 90 per cent and more marks are Anindya Dixit 90.2 per cent and Meena Singh 90 per cent. Reetika Vohra of Shivalik Public School, Sector 41 who has secured 91.4 per cent marks 457/500 is the topper of the school. Whole hearted concentration and regular studies round the year helped her achieve the score.

She drew inspiration from her younger sister, who was simultaneously appearing for the Class X board examination. Vivek Mangla of DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 15 who has secured 90 per cent in the medical stream is not too happy with his performance. He expected 92-93 per cent marks.

Aspiring to be a neuro-surgeon, he is keen to do his MBBS from AIIMS, Delhi or AFMC, Pune. quot; Work hard and in the right direction and keep your spirits high,quot; is what he has to say to all others appearing for these examinations.Sandeep Atri of the same school has secured more than 90 per cent marks in the non-medical stream. The toppers of Bhawan Vidyalaya, who have secured more than 90 per cent marks, are Aman, Sandeep and Ashwinder Singh in the non-medical stream, Sonika Mehta and Disha Mittal in the commerce stream.

Suvir Loomba, another student of the school has secured 88 per cent 440/500 in the commerce stream. He plans to either do his B.Com Hons from Shri Ram College of Commerce or BA Economics from St Stephens, Delhi. Hard work and regular studies are the key to success, he said.

A total of 236,795 candidates had appeared for the Class XII examination, an increase of about seven per cent over last year. In the overall results, taking into account the students of schools and correspondence courses, Chandigarh region emerged at the top with a pass percentage of 77.2 per cent.
