Revised Tata royalty soon

MUMBAI, July 30: TATA Sons, the holding company of the Tata group, has no plan to discard the proposed collection of royalty from group companies. 8220;The original proposal was being modified and the final form would be made public soon,8221; according to Ratan Tata, who is also the chief of Tata Sons.

Tata said besides brand equity, Tata sons would provide quot;considerable servicesquot; to group companies for payment of royalty. He made it clear that payment of royalty was voluntary and was not being imposed.

It may be recalled that the Tata group had worked out a plan under which Tata Sons will get royalty for using the Tata8217; brand name from various Tata companies. However, some Tata companies, it is believed, opposed the royalty plan at that time.
