Showing dissent usually brings a reprimand or much, much more. But for Sairaj Bahutule at the Wankhede here today, it brought him a century. It happened when Bahutule was on 94 and was adjudged caught at first slip off Sunil Joshi. Bahutule stood his ground, and so did bowling side umpire Harnarain Singh Shekhon for a while, before trudging off towards leg umpire Dr S C Gupta. A few seconds later 8212; much to the horror of the Karnataka fielders 8212; the decision was overruled.

A star is born

Though Punjab went down to Hyderabad, Vikram Singh emerged as a star performer. His six for 40 in the Hyderabad second innings followed a 7/75 in the first, to take his tally for the season up to 25 from four matches. Clearly a talent to keep an eye out for.

Hunting in pairs

Bengal finally had a good day with Ranadeb Bose and Shib Shankar Paul joining hands to do the needful. Having scored just 240 in their first innings, Bose and Paul picked five each to curtail Delhi8217;s first innings lead to just 11 runs. Bose8217;s tally for the season is now 33.

Amidst the ruins

On a dry day for batsmen, Railways8217; Amit Pagnis emerged as the hero with an unbeaten 107 for Railways. The other notable performers with the bat were Punjab8217;s Gaurav Gupta 87 n.o., UP8217;s Suresh Raina 67 and the Baroda top-order, with Connor Williams 53, Kiran Powar 90 n.o. and Yousuf Pathan 81 n.o..
