PATIALA, Aug 22: The Punjab College Librarians Association has demanded revised University Grants Commission notification regarding removal of anomalies in the pay scales and service conditions of college librarians.

Satnam Singh Ahluwalia and Barjinder Pal Dhiman, president and general secretary, respectively of the association, stated here today that in May the University Grant Commission agreed to grant parity to college librarians with the lecturers in the revised pay scales.

They said that in a memorandum addressed to the newly appointed chairman of University Grant Commission , Dr Hari Partap Gautam, the association has demanded pay fixation of selection grade college librarians with five years8217; service on or after January 1, 1996 at the minimum of Rs 14,940 in the revised scale of Rs 12000-420-18300; career advancement of college librarians, including the counting of total service along with feeder grade service; incentives for P.hd/M.Phil; inclusion of college librarians in the faculty improvement programme for doing P.hd and M.Phil; and third promotion in the form of super selection gradeof librarians on par with the teachers.

The association has urged the University Grant Commission to immediately put an end to discrimination against the college librarians by issuing a fresh notification for the removal of anomalies in the revised pay scales and service conditions.
