Relief operations in MP gain pace as rains abate

As rains abated, relief operations gained pace in flood-affected areas of MP on Sunday, even as the administration maintained a high alert in western parts of the state where heavy rains were predicted.

As rains abated, relief operations gained pace in flood-affected areas of MP on Sunday, even as the administration maintained a high alert in western parts of the state where heavy rains were predicted. A sharp vigil is being maintained in Sheopur, Morena and Bhind districts where 6 lakh cusecs of water released into the Chambal river from Kota barrage in Rajasthan is expected to reach soon. As many as 84 villages of MP are expected to be affected by it.

Landslides at some places in HP, heavy rains in Shimla

SHIMLA: The mid and higher hills of HP were lashed by moderate to heavy rains while state capital Shimla and its adjoining areas had heavy downpour, triggering landslides and uprooting trees at some places. Shimla recorded 101.2 mm of rains since Saturday while Sunni, Kalpa and Bhuntar had 8.3 mm, 4.8 mm and 5.7 mm of rains. Some link roads in the interior areas were blocked due to landslides while some trees were uprooted in Shimla town.
