Bombay High Court gets bomb threat, premises vacated
Bomb threat in Mumbai: Bombay High Court and other Mumbai courts were evacuated after bomb threats on Thursday, prompting deployment of bomb detection units and heightened security.
Mumbai Bomb Threat: The Bombay High Court premises in the Fort area of South Mumbai are being vacated after receiving a bomb threat on Thursday. The other courts in Mumbai, including Bandra, Andheri, and Esplanade (known as Killa Court) in South Mumbai, too, received bomb threats and police deployed bomb detection unit on the court premises.
The bomb threat was issued over email to multiple courts and banks, Mumbai Commissioner of Police said, assuring Mumbaikars that there was “no need to panic”. Police and bomb detection squads have cleared and thoroughly checked the threatened areas.
A police officer said the Bandra court had received a threat message, following which the SOP for threat calls was implemented and a complete evacuation was carried out. “Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) carried out a search of the premises. No explosive was found and the threat was declared a hoax,” the cop said.
He said an FIR will be registered against unidentified persons.
Judges, lawyers vacate premises after bomb threat
Judges, including the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, vacated the premises around 1 PM. The lawyers’ associations also asked their members to vacate the HC premises as soon as the threat was received. The litigants and court staff were also asked to vacate the premises.
“Under instructions from Hon’ble the Chief Justice, this is to inform you all to request the Hon’ble Judges to whom you are attached, that due to a bomb threat, the Bomb Disposal Squad will be doing the needful and hence, to rise from the Courts and assemble in Judges’ Conference Hall. The courts will be in session at 3 PM,” one of the lawyers’ associations conveyed to its members.
“Owing to security concerns at the Bombay High Court, members, their staff are requested to vacate the High Court premises on 18.12.2025 and co-operate with the police and high court administration . Upon clearance of the security concerns and on intimation from the Police/High Court administration, we will update you about further action,” Bombay Bar Association (BBA) appealed its members.

Earlier, the Bombay HC had on September 19 and 12 received bomb threat emails, following which security check was carried out at the court premises and the bomb scare was later confirmed to be a hoax. The email was sent to the high court’s official ID.
The Delhi High Court too had received a similar threat on September 12 on the official email IDs of the registrar general and other office staff.
