Rathore says he might not compete again

8220;I need to take a few days off and spend time with my family. I love being part of sports and I guess it8217;s difficult to stay away. I really cannot bid goodbye to shooting. But I seriously need time to think whether I would compete ever,8221; Rathore said.

Rathore struggled to read targets and shot 131, which was just not enough to reach the business end of the event to stay in medal hunt. Top six shooters made it to the final event from the 19-man field, which had Rathore placed 15th overall with 131 points.

Talking to the Indian media, Rathore8217;s eyes were moistening and the shooter abruptly retreated to the change room, trying to conceal his tears. He eventually returned to continue the interaction and said: 8220;You have to see the whole thing as a four-year journey. It was not easy to continue after Athens, for I had some personal issues. But I thank my coaches who stood by me and made me believe I could continue.8221;

Troubling targets

On today8217;s performance, Rathore said he shot well but had troubles in reading targets. 8220;The last 10 days we were trying to read the targets and I had some difficulty today. That also explains the relative low scores in the field today,8221; he said.

8220;I had trouble reading the first target and that affected my anticipation as well.8221;

8220;I8217;m upset that I could not hold on to my scores. I did not shoot very high this year but that should have been enough to qualify for the finals here. At the end, I have not been able to achieve what we came here for,8221; Rathore rued.

Samresh Jung was also not in his elements on Tuesday and his total of 540 couldn8217;t find a place among the top six who made it to the finals of 50m pistol event.
