CHANDIGARH, Aug 6: Advocate Daljit Singh Rajput8217;s bail application was dismissed by UT Additional District and Sessions Judge S.S. Lamba in the Burail jail-break conspiracy case, here today.

Rajput, according to the prosecution, was instrumental in the purchase of the mobile phone and SIM cards claimed to have been smuggled into the jail premises.

He had referred alleged co-conspirator in the case, Jaswant Singh, to a shop located adjacent to his office in Sector 22 for purchasing the mobile phone. Jaswant had met Rajput on quot;hardcore militantquot; Jagtar Singh Hawara8217;s directions, the prosecution had added.

Seeking his release on bail today, the defence counsel stated that the accused was not named in the First Information Report FIR.

He further stated that knowledge regarding the allegations in the FIR had been denied by the accused in the application submitted to a Judicial Magistrate. Further, he did not make any statement before the police.

The counsel added that the accused was being falsely implicated in the case at the bidding of senior police officers as he was pleading cases against them.

Incriminating articles were not recovered from his possession. Moreover, the accused would not tamper with the evidence, if released on bail, the counsel added.
