MUMBAI, March 20: Shiv Sena-BJP combine8217;s Premsingh alias Pramod Rajput was elected as the 13th Mayor of Thane Municipal Corporation TMC on Friday.
In a straight contest Rajput defeated his Congress rival Suresh Pendhare by a margin of 24 votes. He polled 58 votes while Pendhare got 34 in the house of 95. Two votes were declared invalid while one member was not present in the general body meeting. Sena-BJP combine8217;s Harishchandra Yelbhar was elected to the post of Deputy Mayor. He defeated his Congress rival Meenakshi Unavane by 24 votes. While Yelbhar polled 59 his rival got 35 votes.
