Rawal awarded
Vivekanada Youth Club, Rajkot, presented the Rajkot Ratna award to artist Hasmukhbhai Rawal at a simple ceremony at the artist8217;s residence. The artist has been drama director at Akashwani, Rajkot, since the last many years. He has written many plays and dramas for the All India Radio. He also teaches radio communication at the Journalism Department of Saurashtra University.

Robbery bid
Bhuj: Sardarsinh Sodha, a retired Army jawan employed as a guard at the Gandhidham Co-operative Bank, and his teenaged daughter Chanduba foiled an armed robbery attempt of the bank by four desperadoes on Wednesday night by raising an alarm. A police patrol van pulled up on hearing the screams onl to see the four trying to flee. Though one robber Subhash Chaudhary was killed in a police shoot out while trying to escape, his three accomplices escaped. All hailed from Uttar Pradesh.
