At least 31 people were on Wednesday evacuated by Air Force and Army personnel from marooned villages of Karnataka8217;s Gadag district, which has been receiving heavy rain, officials said. In Raddar Naganur village, IAF helicopters rescued 22 people perched atop a tree with the village submerged in flood waters from Bennihalla rivulet. At another location in the same village, nine persons were shifted to safer places by Army personnel in a boat on Wednesday. Eight people have died in rain-related incidents over the past three days in Gadag district.
