HYDERABAD, Dec 5: Karnataka flattered to deceive, as title contenders Indian Railways recovered from a goal deficit to take full points, in a Group B match, in the 4th Federation Cup Hockey Tournament at the Begumpet Hockey Stadium today.After their surprise defeat in the opener at the hands of Hyderabad yesterday, Karnataka led till the 52nd minute only to lose by an odd-goal in three. The hosts, on the other hand, failed to keep the momentum, losing to a highly rated Punjab 1-4.Later, defending champions Indian Airlines drubbed Gujarat 8-1 while Air-India struggled to a 1-1 draw with Tamil Nadu.Karnataka looked well set for an upset, as they clung on to an eighth minute goal by Sandy Brown till 17 minutes into the second-half. Following their first penalty corner, Brown took the pass from Cariappa and banged it in. It required the penalty corner expertise of Ashok Kumar for Railways to produce the equalizer. The veteran converted the fourth penalty corner his side managed. Two minutes later, forward M Ekka scored the crucial goal for the winners, making use of a pass from substitute Hasrat Qureshi.
