Pressure and patience are the two key words that the Railways team would be relying heavily on over the next two days. Resuming on the overnight score of 367/3 the team added another 168 runs in 46 overs for the loss of three wickets to declare at 535/6 against Goa at the Karnail Singh Stadium here on Sunday.

The middle-order continued the good work of the top-order to add quick runs and put pressure on their opponents. Though Shreyas Khanolkar could add only 17 runs to his overnight score to be dismissed for 120 JP Yadav, who scored his third half-century in as many matches, led the charge to pile on a big first innings score.

The Goa batting, that was a cause of concern in the earlier matches, showed good resilience early on. Swapnil Asnodkar 34 especially was impressive as the runs were coming at a steady pace but once his wicket fell to offie Kulamani Parida runs dried up. The team at the end of the day was at 124 for 2.

Though fellow opener Sagun Kamat scored a half-century he was living a charmed life at the wicket. Early on, he was dropped at mid-wicket by Manjrekar and then an easy stumping chance was missed by Khanolkar, who was standing in for the injured Ankit Srivastava.

Srivastava, who gave his side a good start on day one, was struck on the eye by a nasty one from Parida. According to team coach Vinod Sharma though there were no stitches required Srivastava was not able to open his eye and will not take part in the match anymore.

8220;This is a big loss as with a bit of variable bounce and turn a regular keeper is a must,8221; he added.

Brief scores: Railways 535/6 decl S Khanolkar 120, JP Yadav 69, S Manjrekar 51 n.o, Sanjiv Sanyal 64 n.o, S Bandekar 4/154 vs Goa 124/2 S Kamat 54 batting
