NEW DELHI, May: The Delhi Division of Northern Railway is introducing Coupon Validating Machines to reduce waiting time at the booking counters for local commuters. Booklets with travel coupons of different denominations totalling either Rs 30 or Rs 50 will be sold. During any suburban journey, the commuter will now just need to check the fare on the chart and punch in the required denomination of coupons. The holder of the punched coupon will have the authority to travel like a ticket holder. The coupons will be valid for 15 months.

Entrance exam
The entrance examination for admission to the January 2000 term at the Rashtriya Indian Military College in Dehradun will be conducted in Delhi on August 2 and 3. The forms will be available at the examination cell of the Department of Education near the Old Secretariat. Boys studying in Class VII or those who have passed out of the class are eligible to take the exam. The age limit is between 11-and-a-half years and 13 years. The last date for submission of the duly completed forms is June 25.

PCO drive
To ensure that customers are charged the new tariff rates that MTNL Delhi has implemented from May 1, a special drive has been initiated by the department. Surprise checks have already been conducted in the Lodhi Road area, New Delhi Railway Station, Paharganj and Arya Samaj Road in Karol Bagh.
