RAC officer commits suicide in Chanakyapuri

A 55-year-old Assistant Commandant of the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary shot himself with his service pistol at Chanakyapuri here on Tuesday.

A 55-year-old Assistant Commandant of the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary RAC shot himself with his service pistol at Chanakyapuri here on Tuesday. He was posted with the 12th battalion of the RAC.

According to the police, Mahender Singh Chaudhary, a native of Bharatpur in Rajasthan, was found dead in a chair in his room with his service pistol in his right hand by the police at the battalion camp on Tuesday afternoon.

Police officers said a suicide note was found in the room which stated that he took the extreme step as he had failed to perform his duty towards his family, parents and siblings. The note mentioned that no one was to be blamed for his death.

The police added that Singh reached the battalion camp around noon and asked for his service pistol. After a few minutes he went back to his room saying that he was not feeling well,8221; the police said. Later, a constable went to check on him and found him dead.

8220;We informed the police immediately. Around 6 pm his body was taken out after the DCP, New Delhi district, visited the spot along with other senior officers,8221; an RAC officer said.
