JD cells dissolved
NEW DELHI: All wings and cells of the Janata Dal, including Yuva Janata Dal, Mahila Janata Dal, Chhatra Janata Dal and Minority Committee were dissolved on Friday by the party president Sharad Yadav. The step was taken considering the fact that a new national executive is to be formed, the JD general secretary Bapu Kaldate said in a statement here. Yadav also accepted the resignation of Naval Kishore Rai, MP, president of Yuva Janata Dal, the statement said.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of the notorious hawala dealer Ameer Bhai, against whom arrest warrants are pending in three cases including the Rs 64 crore Jain-hawala case.
ED summons
HYDERABAD: The Enforcement Directorate has served notice on P V Prabhakar Rao, son of former prime minister P V Narasimha Rao, and summoned him to appear before it in New Delhi for interrogation in connection with the alleged Foreign Exchange Regulation Act violations in the Rs 133-crore urea scam. Earlier on August 5, a three-judge Bench of the Supreme Court rejected the anticipatory bail application of Prabhakar on a special leave petition filed by the ED challenging the High Court verdict granting him anticipatory bail.

MUMBAI: Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral arrived in the megapolis tonight by a special Indian Air Force plane. Gujral, who is here to participate in tomorrow’s golden jubilee function of country’s independence, was accompanied by his wife Sheela.
