
Govt plans to give more powers to CAG
NEW DELHI: The Centre proposes to set up a commission to review the Constitution to make the Comptroller and Auditor General of India CAG a more effective and powerful body, Minister for Human Resource Development Murli Manohar Joshi said today.
The question of jurisdictional limitations of the CAG for audit of public funds is also to be looked into by the commission in depth, he said and added that he personally does not see any reason to put spokes in CAG8217;s jurisdiction to audit public expenditure in any form.

TEHRAN: All 50 residents of a village are feared to have been buried alive in a landslide in south-west Iran. Iranian television reported that a mountain village with 50 inhabitants in Chaharmahal-va-Bakhtiari province was buried under a landslide caused by flood waters.
