HYDERABAD: Four farmers were injured when a group of enraged army personnel allegedly went on a rampage and razed to the ground a rythu bazaar farmers8217; market at Mehdipatnam area in the city early today. Over 300 armymen barged into the vegetable market, erected in a land leased out to the state government by the defence ministry, destroyed the sheds and manhandled the farmers who tried to intervene.

SRINAGAR: Eight top militants of banned Harkat-ul-Ansar outfit were arrested from their hideouts and a big cache of arms and ammunition was seized in Kashmir valley. One of the top captured militants, identified as Muddasir Ahmad Mir, was the brain-behind the recent drive of the militant outfit to impose restriction on women to adhere to the Islamic code of conduct regarding dress and behaviour.

Emission norms

NEW DELHI: Union government and Maruti Udyog Limited MUL have moved the Supreme Court seeking more time for implementation of the apex court8217;s order on strict emission norms, albeit on different grounds. Supreme Court today said that the two applications moved yesterday along with that filed by the Delhi Government would be heard on Thursday.

Dara8217;s man arrested

BARIPADA: Turam Ho, another close associate of the main accused in the Australian missonary murder case Dara Singh, has been arrested from Panikoili in Orissa8217;s Jajpur district, about 160 km from here. The arrest was made last night and comes close on the heels of the arrest of another Dara associate Madhu Mahanta on Monday.
