
US sends back more scientists
WASHINGTON: Despite all the upbeat pronouncements on the Indo-US diplomatic front, the Clinton administration is not only sending back more Indian scientists in the US but is also holding back defence and scientific equipment India had sent here for testing purpose under a Memorandum of Understanding. On the eve of the crucial fourth round of talks between key interlocutors of the two countries next week, sources say the atmosphere is beginning to sour over aggravating US actions.

NEW DELHI: Commerce Minister Ramakrishna Hegde said on Sunday that the government was considering either to restrict or ban export of onions in view of high prices and to protect the interest of the consumers.
