Plot to kill VVIPs in Capital foiled

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police Friday claimed to have thwarted a conspiracy hatched by some jailed Babbar Khalsa militants to kill VVIPs and 8220;wreak havoc8221; in the capital, with the seizure of weapons and explosives including 18 kg of RDX and advanced timers brought from Punjab. The seizures were made by Crime Branch personnel from a truck coming from Batala Punjab which was intercepted in the Transport Nagar area of Punjabi Bagh in west Delhi Thursday, Police Commissioner VN Singh, told media persons here. The duo have been remanded to 10 days8217; police custody and further investigations are on.

Assam floods

GUWAHATI: The flood situation in Assam Friday worsened further in the 18 affected districts as the state government sent an SOS to the Centre for immediate financial assistance. Official sources said here that the waters of the Brahmaputra and its tributaries were flowing above the danger level in almost all the affected districts and more than 15 lakhpeople were affected by the current wave of floods.
