CBI raids in seven cities

NEW DELHI: The CBI today carried out simultaneous searches at 63 places spread over seven cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta and Patna, in connection with disproportionate asset cases against two key fodder scam accused, their relatives and certain suppliers to Bihar8217;s Animal Husbandry department.

Armsdrop case

CALCUTTA: Two villagers of Jhalda police station area were cross-examined by accused Peter Bleach and counsels for the Latvians in the Purulia armsdrop case in a city court on Friday. One of the villagers, Suresh Chandra Kumar, told city sessions judge A K Bishi that he woke up on the night of December 17, 1995 on hearing the loud sound of an aircraft and the thud of heavy boxes.

51 die in bus crash

JAMMU:AT least 51 people were killed and 15 injured, some critically, when a bus skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge on Jammu-Srinagar highway today, police said. The bus was on way to Jammu city from Udhampur when the the accidentoccurred near Nandni, some 25 km from here. Rescuers extricated 51 bodies, police said, adding the injured were admitted to Jammu Medical College Hospital.
