Slain city advocate’s house raided
MUMBAI: Police today conducted a search at the Borivli residence of lawyer Liyakat Ali Shaikh, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants here recently. Shaikh had allegedly acted as a conduit between suspended Judge J W Singh and Karachi-based underworld don Chhota Shakeel. The police were searching for some vital evidence and clues about Singh’s involvement with Chhota Shakeel. However, they found nothing significant in the raid. DCP (Zone IV) R G Kadam confirming the raid on Liyakat’s residence, denied that another raid had been conducted at Singh’s house also. Some police officials had earlier claimed that “a diary, a mobile phone which was used to contact Chhota Shakeel and objectionable documents” were found during a raid on Singh’s Sion residence.
