NEW DELHI: A P J Abdul Kalam, scientific adviser to defence minister, was on Thursday appointed principal scientific adviser to the government of India and accorded the rank of a Cabinet minister.

BARIPADA: The police has arrested Mahendra Hembram, an associate of Dara Singh, main accused in the Graham Staines murder case, from Jamshedpur last night. A special squad of the police, led by Dilip Das, nabbed Hembram from the steel city.
