JALANDHAR, Dec 28: The newly-elected Punjab Youth Congress president Devinder Singh Babbu today dissolved all the district units of the PYC in the state and said that the new units would be reconstituted by January end.
Talking to reporters here, Babbu also hinted that the convicted partymen or those with dubious backgrounds would not be inducted into the reconstituted party units.
He announced that the Youth Congress would resort to a gherao of the Mayors of the four municipal corporations of Jalandhar, Patiala, Ludhiana and Amritsar in the first week of February, if they failed to improve the functioning of the corporations.
Discounting reports about any factionalism in the Youth Congress, he said that only sincere and dedicated Congressmen would be given a place in the new set up.
In the reorganised party units, one third of the party posts would be reserved for women as per the decision of the Congress high command, 20 percent of the posts would be reserved for the scheduled castes and preference would also be given to the wards of freedom fighters in the party hierarchy, he said.
Babbu said that the Youth Congress would be organising blood donation and drug de-addiction camps in the state shortly.
Lashing out against the Akali-BJP government, Babbu said the government had failed on all fronts and had pushed the state into Financial chaos.
