
VADODARA, July 2: The Pushtimargiya Open University, situated at Kewda Baug, proposes to hold its first convocation on July 4 to award degrees to 922 students who have completed their graduations in various disciplines.
Addressing reporters here on Thursday, president of the Wakpati trust Wagishlal Goswami said, 8220;The functioning of this university is different as compared to other universities we evolve our own syllabus and formulate our own rules and regulations.8221;
More emphasis is also laid on religious subjects, he said. The trust manages the university, Goswami said, adding that there was no intention of affiliating it with any board. On its medium of instruction, he said, though at present the medium was Gujarati, it had plans to introduce Hindi also.
Goswami said the university also published journals in Hindi for the convenience of its students. The university thought situated on the outskirts of the city, it had students not only from different parts of the city but also from different states as well, he said.
