This weekend indulge in traditional tastes at the 8216;Tava Tandoor8217; fest
It8217;s back after a two-year gap, but making up for the time lost is the team at Hotel Shivalik View with their annual Tava 038; Tandoor food festival. This year, it8217;s gone bigger and better. 8220;For one, we now have a theme,8221; tells the hotel8217;s banquet manager Jagan Chaudhry, as he takes us around the lawns that will host the spread. This year8217;s theme is 8216;Pure Punjabi8217; and that8217;s why you8217;ll find earthy thatched huts dotted all over the lawns. 8220;We have replicated the feel of a Punjabi village complete with Bhangra performances,8221; lists out Chaudhry, as we notice the well-lit ambience with even a well to boot! That8217;s when Chef Atul Dutta walks in with his team that has meticulously put together the special menu. 8220;We will have different counters dishing out Punjabi specialties,8221; mentions Chef Dutta. So you have 8216;Mastane Di Hatti8217; that will offer a range of tandoori delights. Choose from 8216;Murg Lajawabi8217; a tandoori speciality for Rs 150, 8216;Murg Tikka8217; Rs 150 or 8216;Paneer Achari Tikka8217; Rs 75. If you love all that comes from the tandoor, then the 8216;Tandoori Phool8217; cauliflower comes highly recommended.
Keeping up with the rustic charm of the food fest, you can tuck into 8216;Sarson ka saag8217; with buttery makki rotis and Punjabi daal at 8216;Bhole Da Dhabha8217;. 8220;The onset of winter is the perfect time to relish traditional Punjabi meals and we thought of making it a weekend spread for the family,8221; adds Chaudhry. Precisely why there8217;s a special counter 8211; 8216;Tava Da Mazaa8217; that brings in 8216;Amritsari Machhi Sikander Di8217; Rs 125. If you are wondering who Sikander is then here8217;s a surprise. 8220;He8217;s one of our speciality cooks and this time we decided to name the counters by the cook who was manning them,8221; pitches in Dutta. So in come 8216;Tava Meat Manoj Da8217;, 8216;Paneer Taka Tak Mal Singh8217; and 8216;Pao Bhaji Jassi Di8217;. Completing the main course is 8216;Malerkotla di Biryani8217; Rs 150 to Rs 175. Team it up with one of the shorbas on offer at the counter quite aptly titled 8216;Sochde Sochde8217;. But if you are one of those who like to race to the end, there8217;s a treat in store. 8220;For the first time we have kadai dhoodh,8221; they chorus. And jalebi and gulab jamuns, of course.
The food festival is on Saturday November 15 and Sunday November 16.
